Project Cebu 2016 part 3 (Talibon 2 Central Elementary)♥
taking on a grade 5 class offered a new set of challenges haha because they were sometimes too well-behaved/quiet hahaha (it made the silence awkward/made us wonder if we were boring teachers). also, we had to be sure we knew our content - especially for science lessons!!
also, cherie1 and i didnt know what games or methods would appeal to older kids (will they think we are lame? :o)
in any case, we were thankful tht they were willing to cooperate and enjoy the activities and lessons we prepared for them.
after being trained in classroom management and child engagement tactics for 3 days with my grade 2s in bien unido, my confidence grew sufficiently for me to experiment with new teaching methods hahaha. to be honest, anything with children is always a case of trial and error. but im so thankful it worked out and i enjoy seeing the smiles on the kids (:
it helps tht they understand English better than my previous class of grade 2s, so we could have some flexibility with our program (eg impromptu sharing abt philippines and sg) and our instructions were understood (yay!)
overall this was a sweet class(: thankyou for the hospitality even though we only had a short 2days tgt!!
they were also disciplined haha i mean like some of them had smartphones but they nvr took it out while we were teaching . woahhh :o
some of the students demonstrating a Filipino folk dance
i still can't believe i linked rain, sweets and the digestive system lesson with a barney song. hahaha but they seem to enjoy the AH AH AH AH AH part :p
